Maricopa Stanfield Irrigation & Drainage District (MSIDD) formed in 1962 for the purpose of providing irrigation water for agricultural use.  The District is located in Pinal County.  The irrigation system involves over 200 miles of distribution facilities including concrete-lined canals, pipelines, pumping plants and related works.   MSIDD receives its surface water from the Central Arizona Project (CAP).  The Districts CAP allocation is 110,000, to 120,000 AF per year, this is supplemented with groundwater provided by wells operated and maintained by the District since 1989.  The District has a “Commingling agreement” with Reclamation which allows the District to deliver “non-project” water through their facilities.  In 2003, approximately 59,000 acres were irrigated in the District.  Crops vary between cotton, grains, alfalfa, pecan, grapes, and specialty crops.

Annual water use for 2006 was 274,000 AF, in 2007 rose to 314,000 AF, and through April of 2008 water use has been 103,000 AF and is projected to total approximately 330,000 AF in 2008.
