New Magma Irrigation &  Drainage District (NMID) emerged in June 1995 and is located West of Phoenix, between Queen Creek and the Gila River in Maricopa and Pinal Counties, Arizona.  It is composed of 27,410 acres, of which 26,900 are irrigable acres.  The water used within the NMID is a combination of groundwater and Central Arizona Water Conservation District (the Central Arizona Project – CAP) water.  Groundwater used within the District is privately pumped, as the District owns no wells.  The District has built a distribution system to deliver the CAP water. There are seven members on the Board of Directors of this District.  They are elected on an acreage system of voting.

Annual water use for 2006 was 84,220 AF, in 2007 rose to 88,182 AF, and through April of 2008 water use has been 16,725 AF which is ahead of schedule in comparison to the previous years.
