Hohokam Irrigation & Drainage District

Hohokam Irrigation & Drainage District (HIDD) is located Northeast of Casa Grande, southwest of Coolidge in Pinal County, Arizona. It is composed of 29,600 acres, of which 28,200 are irrigable acres. However, some of the 28,200 irrigable acres have been reduced due to urban development. HIDD was formed in 1972 under Title 48 of the Revised Arizona State Statutes. The land within HIDD is currently irrigated with Central Arizona Water Conservation District (CAP) water and supplemented with private groundwater wells. The District’s main canal is approximately 15 miles in length and the system has approximately 60 miles of open, concrete lined laterals and pressure pipelines.

Annual water use for 2006 was 70,520 AF, in 2007 rose to 89,831 AF, and through April of 2008 water use has been 21,928 AF which is ahead of schedule in comparison to the previous years.
